Rabies is a virus spread by the bite or scratch of an infected animal, usually a dog. Once symptoms begin it is nearly always fatal — but it is 100% preventable with prompt wound care and vaccination. लक्षणहरू: At first, tingling or pain at the bite; later, fever, fear of water, agitation and paralysis. The virus in the saliva of an infected animal enters through a bite, scratch or a lick on broken skin.

Immediately wash the wound with running water and soap for at least 15 minutes, then go to a health facility the same day for anti-rabies vaccination (and immunoglobulin for deep bites).
