Surunga is a trade center of located in Kankai Municipality in Jhapa District, Koshi Province of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, it had a population of 16,747 people living in 2996 individual households. Surunga is a rapidly developing town in Jhapa district. It is situated on the bank of the Kankai River.
