It was first climbed by a German Expedition in 1955.","summary_more":["In 1994, Pisang Peak became the site of what has been called the \"Pisang Tragedy\", one of Nepal's worst climbing disasters. On November 13, 1994, 11 people, including nine Germans, one Swiss and one Nepalese died in an avalanche. After reaching the summit, the climbing party started a windslab avalanche, which swept the group over 600 meters to their deaths. The entire expedition party was killed in the accident. One week later, a rescue team found the bodies of the climbers huddled together on the snowfield."],"facts":[{"key":"type","label":"Type","values":[{"text":"trekking peak","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3538399"},{"text":"mountain","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8502"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18388748#P31"}},{"key":"elevation","label":"Elevation","values":[{"text":"6,091 m","value":6091.0}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18388748#P2044"}},{"key":"range","label":"Mountain range","values":[{"text":"Damodar Himal","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4154426","page":"https://diginpl.com/places/damodar-himalaya"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18388748#P4552"}}],"office":null,"sections":[],"cited":[],"cited_from":null,"videos":[],"last_reviewed":null,"organizations":[],"same_as":["https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pisang_Peak","https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18388748"],"faq":[{"q":"What is the elevation of Pisang Peak?","a":"Pisang Peak is at an elevation of 6,091 m above sea level."}],"related":[{"name":"Mount Everest","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/mount-everest"},{"name":"Himalayas","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/himalayas"},{"name":"Kathmandu","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/kathmandu"},{"name":"Kangchenjunga","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/kangchenjunga"},{"name":"Annapurna (mountain range)","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/annapurna-mountain-range"},{"name":"Dhaulagiri","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/dhaulagiri"},{"name":"Makalu","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/makalu"},{"name":"Lhotse","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/lhotse"},{"name":"Cho Oyu","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/cho-oyu"},{"name":"Manaslu","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/manaslu"},{"name":"Pokhara","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/pokhara"},{"name":"Lumbini","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/lumbini"}],"places_in":[],"nearby":[{"name":"Ghyaru","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/ghyaru","km":4.0},{"name":"Pisang","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/pisang","km":5.1},{"name":"Nyawal","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/nyawal","km":8.1},{"name":"Kang Guru","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/kang-guru","km":11.1},{"name":"Manang District, Nepal","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/manang-district-nepal","km":11.7},{"name":"Chame Rural Municipality","url":"https://diginpl.com/places/chame-rural-municipality","km":11.7}],"image":{"url":"https://thumb.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/23/Naar_fields_and_Pisang_Peak.jpg/960px-Naar_fields_and_Pisang_Peak.jpg","width":640,"height":480,"license":"CC BY-SA 2.0","credit":"Mark Horrell","page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Naar_fields_and_Pisang_Peak.jpg"},"sources":[{"label":"Wikipedia (English): Pisang Peak","url":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pisang_Peak","license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"},{"label":"Wikidata item Q18388748","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q18388748","license":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"},{"label":"Image: Naar fields and Pisang Peak.jpg by Mark Horrell (CC BY-SA 2.0)","url":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Naar_fields_and_Pisang_Peak.jpg","license":null}],"license":{"text":"CC BY-SA 4.0","url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/","facts":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"},"attribution":"Text from the Wikipedia article Pisang Peak, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
