## Overview

Born in Nawalparasi in 1990, Karki studied medicine (MBBS) and completed postgraduate training in general surgery. Before entering politics she worked as a surgeon at Patan Hospital, taught surgery at the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and sat on the executive committee of the Nepal Medical Council. In Parliament she has focused on health policy: she questioned the government over the 2025 appointment of a health secretary, pressed for allowances and duty-hour rules for resident doctors, and in 2026 coordinates a health and food-safety study subcommittee of the House Education, Health and IT Committee.
