In order to defeat the Tepanec Empire, and its ruler Maxtla, he formed an alliance with the tlatoque (kings) of Mexico-Tenochtitlan and Tlacopan, becoming one of the founders of the Aztec Triple Alliance, commonly known as the Aztec Empire.
