Schober was appointed Vienna Chief of Police in 1918 and became the founding president of Interpol in 1923, holding both positions until his death. He served as the chancellor of Austria from June 1921 to May 1922 and again from September 1929 to September 1930. He also served ten stints as an acting minister, variously leading the ministries of education, finance, commerce, foreign affairs, justice, and the interior, sometimes just for a few days or weeks at a time. Although Schober was elected to the National Council as the leader of a loose coalition of the Greater German People's Party and the Landbund near the end of his career, he never formally joined any political party. Schober remained the only chancellor in Austrian history with no official ideological affiliation until 2019, when Brigitte Bierlein was appointed, becoming the first woman to take office.","summary_more":[],"facts":[{"key":"born","label":"Born","values":[{"text":"14 November 1874","date":"1874-11-14"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P569"}},{"key":"birthplace","label":"Place of birth","values":[{"text":"Perg","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q260186"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P19"}},{"key":"died","label":"Died","values":[{"text":"19 August 1932","date":"1932-08-19"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P570"}},{"key":"deathplace","label":"Place of death","values":[{"text":"Baden","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q486450"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P20"}},{"key":"citizenship","label":"Citizenship","values":[{"text":"Austria","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q40"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P27"}},{"key":"occupation","label":"Occupation","values":[{"text":"politician","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q82955"},{"text":"diplomat","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q193391"},{"text":"jurist","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q185351"},{"text":"Esperantist","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q860918"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P106"}},{"key":"party","label":"Political party","values":[{"text":"Christian Social Party","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q692131"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P102"}},{"key":"education","label":"Education","values":[{"text":"University of Vienna","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q165980"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P69"}},{"key":"positions","label":"Positions held","values":[{"text":"Federal Chancellor of Austria (26 September 1929 – 25 September 1930)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1006398","start":"1929-09-26","end":"1930-09-25"},{"text":"Federal Chancellor of Austria (27 January 1922 – 31 May 1922)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1006398","start":"1922-01-27","end":"1922-05-31"},{"text":"Federal Chancellor of Austria (21 June 1921 – 26 January 1922)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1006398","start":"1921-06-21","end":"1922-01-26"},{"text":"member of the National Council of Austria","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q17535155"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P39"}},{"key":"awards","label":"Awards","values":[{"text":"honorary doctor of the University of Vienna","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q34476636"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557#P166"}}],"office":null,"sections":[],"cited":[],"cited_from":null,"videos":[],"last_reviewed":null,"organizations":[],"same_as":["https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Schober","https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q78557"],"faq":[{"q":"When was Johannes Schober born?","a":"Johannes Schober was born on 14 November 1874 in Perg."},{"q":"What positions has Johannes Schober held?","a":"Positions held by Johannes Schober include: Federal Chancellor of Austria (1929–1930);
