He competed in the men's marathon at the 1992 Summer Olympics.","summary_more":["At 58, he continues to actively train and inspire the upcoming generations of runners, providing them with free coaching.","Rokaya's passion for running started in his youth, running not for competition but for the sheer joy and sense of freedom it brought him. Despite not initially training for marathons, his natural talent and passion led him to compete at both national and international levels.","In 1982, after an arduous journey from Jumla to Kathmandu, Rokaya competed in his first National Level Marathon. Despite challenges, including motion sickness from his first experience with motor vehicles and stiff competition, he secured fourth place. His determination was further fueled by his elder brother, a talented yet troubled runner, leading Rokaya to embrace a more disciplined approach to training and to renounce alcohol.","Rokaya's perseverance paid off with his first national medal in 1984, followed by a string of successes, including his first gold medal in the Rastriya Athlete Marathon in 1989. He soon set his sights on Ultra Marathons, dominating the national scene and qualifying for international competitions. A notable setback occurred when he was unfairly excluded from a World Marathon event in Japan, prompting him to focus on the Everest Marathon."],"facts":[{"key":"born","label":"Born","values":[{"text":"2 September 1965","date":"1965-09-02"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q30006174#P569"}},{"key":"citizenship","label":"Citizenship","values":[{"text":"Nepal","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q837"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q30006174#P27"}},{"key":"occupation","label":"Occupation","values":[{"text":"athlete","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2066131"},{"text":"athletics competitor","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q11513337"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q30006174#P106"}}],"office":null,"sections":[],"cited":[],"cited_from":null,"videos":[],"last_reviewed":null,"organizations":[],"same_as":["https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hari_Bahadur_Rokaya","https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q30006174"],"faq":[{"q":"When was Hari Bahadur Rokaya born?","a":"Hari Bahadur Rokaya was born on 2 September 1965."}],"related":[{"name":"Jitu Rai","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/jitu-rai"},{"name":"Binod Bhandari","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/binod-bhandari"},{"name":"Dipendra Singh Airee","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/dipendra-singh-airee"},{"name":"Jitendra Mukhiya","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/jitendra-mukhiya"},{"name":"Karan KC","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/karan-kc"},{"name":"Sagar Pun","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/sagar-pun"},{"name":"Aditya Chaudhary","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/aditya-chaudhary"},{"name":"Ananta Tamang","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/ananta-tamang"},{"name":"Anil Mandal","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/anil-mandal"},{"name":"Jagajeet Shrestha","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/jagajeet-shrestha"},{"name":"Kushal Bhurtel","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/kushal-bhurtel"},{"name":"Mahesh Chhetri","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/mahesh-chhetri"}],"places_in":[],"nearby":[],"image":null,"sources":[{"label":"Wikipedia (English): Hari Bahadur Rokaya","url":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hari_Bahadur_Rokaya","license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"},{"label":"Wikidata item Q30006174","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q30006174","license":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"}],"license":{"text":"CC BY-SA 4.0","url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/","facts":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"},"attribution":"Text from the Wikipedia article Hari Bahadur Rokaya, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
