Columbus returned to Castile in early 1493, with captured natives. Word of his voyage soon spread throughout Europe.","Columbus made three further voyages to the Americas, exploring the Lesser Antilles in 1493, Trinidad and the northern coast of South America in 1498, and the east coast of Central…"],"facts":[{"key":"born","label":"Born","values":[{"text":"1451","date":"1451"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P569"}},{"key":"birthplace","label":"Place of birth","values":[{"text":"Genoa","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1449"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P19"}},{"key":"died","label":"Died","values":[{"text":"20 May 1506","date":"1506-05-20"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P570"}},{"key":"deathplace","label":"Place of death","values":[{"text":"Valladolid","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8356"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P20"}},{"key":"citizenship","label":"Citizenship","values":[{"text":"Republic of Genoa","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q174306"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P27"}},{"key":"occupation","label":"Occupation","values":[{"text":"explorer","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q11900058"},{"text":"seafarer","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q12038843"},{"text":"traveler","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q12356615"},{"text":"sailor","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q45199"},{"text":"inventor","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q205375"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P106"}},{"key":"spouse","label":"Spouse","values":[{"text":"Beatriz Enríquez de Arana","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q463646"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P26"}},{"key":"positions","label":"Positions held","values":[{"text":"Viceroy of the Indies (17 April 1492 – 20 May 1506)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q77380502","start":"1492-04-17","end":"1506-05-20"},{"text":"Governor of the Indies (1492–1500)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q66626376","start":"1492","end":"1500-08-23"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322#P39"}}],"office":null,"sections":[],"cited":[],"cited_from":null,"videos":[],"last_reviewed":null,"organizations":[],"same_as":["https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus","https://ne.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%95%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%B8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%9F%E0%A5%8B%E0%A4%AB%E0%A4%B0_%E0%A4%95%E0%A5%8B%E0%A4%B2%E0%A4%AE%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%AC%E0%A4%B8","https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7322"],"faq":[{"q":"When was Christopher Columbus born?","a":"Christopher Columbus was born on 1451 in Genoa."},{"q":"What positions has Christopher Columbus held?","a":"Positions held by Christopher Columbus include: Viceroy of the Indies (1492–1506); Governor of the Indies (1492–1500)."}],"related":[{"name":"Abel Tasman","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/abel-tasman"},{"name":"Alexander von Humboldt","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/alexander-von-humboldt"},{"name":"Alexei Leonov","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/alexei-leonov"},{"name":"Alfred Russel Wallace","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/alfred-russel-wallace"},{"name":"Alfred Wegener","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/alfred-wegener"},{"name":"Amerigo Vespucci","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/amerigo-vespucci"},{"name":"Arthur C.
