Bakshi was a founding member of the National Conference and rose to be the second in command to the principal leader Sheikh Abdullah. He served as the deputy prime minister of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1947 and 1953, but disagreed with Abdullah's advocacy of independence for the state in 1953. He staged a 'coup' with the help of the head of state Karan Singh, resulting in the dismissal and imprisonment of Sheikh Abdullah. Bakshi was the longest serving prime minister, whose rule saw the formulation of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and a normalisation of relations of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian government.","summary_more":[],"facts":[{"key":"born","label":"Born","values":[{"text":"20 July 1907","date":"1907-07-20"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P569"}},{"key":"birthplace","label":"Place of birth","values":[{"text":"Srinagar","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q170115"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P19"}},{"key":"died","label":"Died","values":[{"text":"15 July 1972","date":"1972-07-15"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P570"}},{"key":"citizenship","label":"Citizenship","values":[{"text":"India","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q668","start":"1950-01-26"},{"text":"British Raj","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q129286","end":"1947-08-14"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P27"}},{"key":"occupation","label":"Occupation","values":[{"text":"politician","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q82955"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P106"}},{"key":"party","label":"Political party","values":[{"text":"Jammu & Kashmir National Conference","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1626979"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P102"}},{"key":"education","label":"Education","values":[{"text":"Tyndale Biscoe School","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7860441"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P69"}},{"key":"positions","label":"Positions held","values":[{"text":"Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir (9 August 1953 – 12 October 1963)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q38882023","start":"1953-08-09","end":"1963-10-12"},{"text":"Member of the Lok Sabha","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q16556694"}],"source":{"label":"Wikidata","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562#P39"}}],"office":null,"sections":[],"cited":[],"cited_from":null,"videos":[],"last_reviewed":null,"organizations":[],"same_as":["https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakshi_Ghulam_Mohammad","https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562"],"faq":[{"q":"When was Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad born?","a":"Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was born on 20 July 1907 in Srinagar."},{"q":"What positions has Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad held?","a":"Positions held by Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad include: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir (1953–1963); Member of the Lok Sabha."},{"q":"Where did Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad study?","a":"Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was educated at Tyndale Biscoe School."}],"related":[{"name":"Farooq Abdullah","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/farooq-abdullah"},{"name":"Ghulam Nabi Azad","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/ghulam-nabi-azad"},{"name":"Ghulam Mohammad Shah","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/ghulam-mohammad-shah"},{"name":"Omar Abdullah","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/omar-abdullah"},{"name":"Sheikh Abdullah","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/sheikh-abdullah"},{"name":"Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/ghulam-mohammed-sadiq"},{"name":"Jawaharlal Nehru","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/jawaharlal-nehru"},{"name":"Narendra Modi","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/narendra-modi"},{"name":"Indira Gandhi","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/indira-gandhi"},{"name":"Rajiv Gandhi","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/rajiv-gandhi"},{"name":"Pratibha Patil","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/pratibha-patil"},{"name":"Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan","url":"https://diginpl.com/people/sarvepalli-radhakrishnan"}],"places_in":[],"nearby":[],"image":null,"sources":[{"label":"Wikipedia (English): Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad","url":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakshi_Ghulam_Mohammad","license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"},{"label":"Wikidata item Q4849562","url":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4849562","license":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"}],"license":{"text":"CC BY-SA 4.0","url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/","facts":"https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/"},"attribution":"Text from the Wikipedia article Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
